Pfingstegg, overlooking Grindelwald and the gateway to the glaciers

This small but beautiful excursion to Pfingstegg is perfect for a late afternoon or as a starting point for the hike into the “Eismeer” (sea of ice) behind the Eiger.

From Grindelwald the cable car leads to the small terrace at 1,387 m. It may not be so high, but it offers a completely different view of Grindelwald and also an interesting perspective of the Eiger and Wetterhorn. In late afternoon the sun fully lights this viewpoint and you can enjoy “a lazy sunny afternoon” on Pfingstegg. Or, when a hike is on your program, the hike to the Baeregg restaurant at the entrance of the “Eismeer” (sea of ice) behind the Eiger can start right here. With every step you get to see more glaciated peaks and above the narrow gorge between the Mettelberg and the Eiger, the narrow but well secured path makes you feel you are in the Himalaya range.

Highlight

Enjoy a fast ride through colourful alpine grasslands with a breathtaking mountain panorama. Our summer toboggan is located behind the Pfingstegg gondola mountain station and it leads 725 meters downhill. After you have finished your ride you will be brought up by a lift. A joyful experience for young and old alike.

Eating and drinking

The restaurant at the summit station offers all kinds of Swiss specialties, but also great homemade pastry and cakes.

Candle light dinner – a surprise dinner for two.

Are you looking for a unique surprise for your loved one? This is the perfect opportunity. Book a romantic candlelight dinner in one of the gondolas at Pfingstegg. During the last light of the day you’ll float up to alp Pfingstegg while you enjoy a delicious starter. Back down in the valley an exclusive main course will be served and lead you up to the most scenic viewpoint of the gondola line. After the main course the gondola will bring you down to the valley station where you will be treated with a dessert, coffee and, of course, a fine spirit. After this, another ride up to say goodbye is included. This offer is limited to only one per day.
