The project’s history of Chaplins World

The idea for an ambitious, large-scale museum dedicated to Charlie Chaplin and his life’s work came about in the year 2000. Then the Swiss architect Philippe Meylan and Quebecois curator, film buff and Chaplin aficionado Yves Durand met eachother for the first time. The project was brought to life by a dedicated group. It was made up of business people, artists and key local players, as well as teams of architects, engineers and designers. They all worked together with the Chaplin Foundation.

The Manoir

You can walk throught almost each room in this beautiful home. In this way you can discover Chaplin’s furnishings and personal belongings. Also you will discover a testimony to an unusual childhood. An in addition to that you can also retrace the last 25 years in the extraordinary life of this cinematographic genius.

The Studio

Enter our Hollywood-style studio and immerse yourself in the spectacular world of silent film. Here you can rediscover Chaplin’s legendary films. Take a moving and fascinating journey through various eras and settings. You can imagine the machinery of “Modern Times”. You can also take a stroll down Hollywood Boulevard. What about trying your hand at a little pantomime!

Almost impossible to mention, just let yourself be surprised and choose your own favourite Charlie Chaplin theme.

Eating and drinking

The café-restaurant The Tramp has a new culinary offer for you. Here you can find a great selection of wines from local vineyards. Either for your aperitif or to accompany your meal

Good to know

You can also visit the Camera Museum in the centre of Vevey (next to Montreux). It has an interesting display of historic cameras.
